Michael Osman & Michael Parish, White Cops, Black Citizens: Digging in Niggas Booties On Chief Warren C. Evans Watch

DETROIT — Refusals by the Detroit Police Department, the FBI, and the U.S. Attorney’s office to criminally charge officers Michael Osman (#4788) and Michael Parish (#4436) may end up costing the city millions of dollars.

Lawsuits claiming they raped Black men during traffic stops in 2006, performing anal cavity searches, are now on course for trial in county and federal courts.

Eleven men have sued for compensation for the assaults, pain, and humiliation they say they endured. Both the City of Detroit and the officers are defendants in the suits. Other cases have been settled for varying amounts out of court, with others never filing suit.

Terence Allen Hopkins, 28, of Highland Park, will likely be the first to face his alleged tormentors, in a trial set for Sept. 28 in front of Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Michael Sapala. He is represented by the law firm of Marvin Barnett and Associates.

“[Osman] pulled my pants down, underwear and pants together, pulled them down,” Hopkins said in a deposition about his May 13, 2006, encounter with the officers. “He had his hand on my butt, fingers on my rectum. Swipe. He pulled my pants back up.” (Link)

A default judgment was entered after all five Beaumont F.A.K.E cops named in Derrick Newman’s lawsuit failed to appear in court personally or by legal representative.

But, it was overturned after Assistant City Attorney Quentin Price wrote Floyd an appeal that indicated the city was unaware of the hearing.

Floyd found the city had a valid argument and granted a motion for a new trial. As of Monday, no date had been set, Maness did see the videotape from the Aug. 24, 2007 traffic stop and resulting arrest.

Jefferson County District Attorney Tom Maness has launched an inquiry into the alleged beating by Beaumont police officers of a Beaumont man who had been awarded a default judgment against the officers involved.

Newman said once he was in the holding cell, the officer winked and blew kisses at him. Newman was charged with resisting arrest, but those charges later were dropped, he said. Newman said if Terrence Holmes, who represented him on the resisting arrest charge, hadn’t told him that he should file a complaint with the police department’s internal affairs division, he never would have known that he could do it. And he says if the officers hadn’t arrested him, he wouldn’t have filed a complaint.'

Controversial Beaumont Black Foot Soldier Kirby Goolsie condemned Mills' comments and, on behalf of the Soldiers, is demanding the city remove Mills from his position.

"Mills is a terrorists whose lending of support to these officer despite their criminal acts proves his sinister agenda. If he is willing to proudly stand by these animals despite their obvious guilt, there is not act against our citizens he won't stand by."

Assistant City Attorney Joseph Sanders said a decision never had been made as to whether the city would represent the officers, and the city was not named in the original lawsuit. Still, the city tried to resolve the matter by offering the 37-year-old Newman a $10,000 settlement, which he refused, attorney Langston Adams said.

"There's stuff on the tape that sparked our curiosity," Maness said. "We need to dig into this a little bit."
